Product options

Prdouct options or product attributes allow for your shopper to purchase items which are the same with different colours, sizes etc basically different variations of the same product. So you could sell clothing with small, large and extra large sizes using the product options feature thats available through your admin. Product options will also allow for the downloading of ebooks, taking instructions from the shopper for example names to go on a wedding invitation or business card and much more. Unlike many other shopping carts, product options can have their own stock quantity, and have there own images, say for example you were selling t-shirts in different colours / styles you could have an image displayed beside each option. Most options like sizes and colours have already been setup for your conveneince so all you need to do is add the options to the products.

 

Create product option (product attribute) and values
Example, Lets create a product option for cable sizes. The name of this option will be 'Cable sizes' and the options available would be 1m, 2m 5m and so on.

1. Go to the Admin of your online store, In the menu, Click on Prod/cats > Product option > product option names
2. Under option names table, in the 'create a option' field enter a name, in this case 'cable length', then select the option select type, we would want our customers to select the option from a dropdown list, so we select dropdown from the list and click insert to save.
3. In the menu, go to Products/cats > product options > product option values
4. At the bottom of the option values table, select 'cable length' option.
5. Enter 1m (this is 1 metre for short) in the second field
6. Enter order position in 3rd field, if needed.
7. click insert to save.
8. Do the same for 2m, 3m 5m and so on.

If you were selling t-shirts these values might be small, large and xlarge etc.

 

Lets now add the product options to a product

1. Go to the Admin of your online store, In the menu, Click on Prod/cats > Product option > option management
2. Click on the product name you want to associate an option to from the selection box titled 'Select a Product to View and Press Display ...'
3. scroll down, you will see that the product selected in step 2 is now active. And you should find 2 boxes side by side ; 'option name' and 'option value'
4. highlight the cable length name in option name box
5. then highlight the values required in the option values box (you can highlight multiple values by holding down your control key at the same time.)
6. Enter price under prices, select or enter any other options required or leave as default
7. click insert to save
8. go to your shop to see if product options are now appearingfor the product in products detail page with selectable options
9. you should also test by selecting an option and purchasing.
